Part 2: The Estate
Most people only walk into the first room of a stronghold and don’t go much further. So if you don’t wow them at the start they’re not going to keep looking. The main hall had me pulling out some old tricks I’ve learned over my two previous builds on Coruscant and Nar Shaddaa, also visible here on TOR Decorating. Hayley Dorne’s Jedi Academy and Hayley Dorne’s Lair of Shadows. If you’ve seen those you will see some recurring themes popping up here. I couldn’t help myself but divide the room up with stone walls, lights, fountains and a ton of plants and trees, and I mean a TON of plants and trees. I did not place anything on the floor that might get in the way of the light from the window. In my head nothing should be in the way of the light since there is no shadow, that plus I didn’t place anything on the ground where the light landed.
Some features I’d like to highlight in the main hall. Firstly, is the small statue behind the reception desk. It is a combination of two decorations, the Orgus Din memorial and the Statue of the Dignified Scholar. After much tinkering the centre of the Dignified Scholar deco looks like it’s holding the urn at the centre of the memorial.
Second, the central fountain has within it Yavin Flora and glowing blue mushrooms from the Ossus reputation vendor.
At the rear of the hall there is a Statue of the Forgotten Heroine surrounded in many, many plants. I placed trees and other plant life underneath the statue to make it look as if its growing through it and around it.
Next, we go to the common area, with a small bar, all the utilities you could need and the server monitor as a stand in for TV.
The meditation room comes after, a room full of vibrant glowing yellow light, plants, lined with stone walls and fountains, only more calming sounding compared to the louder ones in the main hall.
Finally, the library. It wouldn’t be a Hayley Dorne stronghold without a dope library. Features in this room include the throne facade decorations. I don’t like being told by Bioware how to utilise a room so naturally I turned a throne room into a library and used the facade decorations originally to close the gap between the archives and the wall. In the end the facade became the wall and what formed was a 4-5 decorations, depending on how you’re counting combined into one. At the point where the facades cross over I needed something to cover it, it’s covered with vines from Ossus, a Copero hanging plant and an elegant fountain. Combined, the plant sits on the floor and the water follows the path of the vine. If you’re in this room when I’m online, take a closer look.
That’s it for the Estate, next is the retreat.
I saw you working on your Aldi on patch day, man you work fast as hell.
I’m so impressed with the main hall, it’s breathtaking. You’ve really outdone yourself.
Hey thanks so much man! Yeah I got off to a flyer but stalled around 50% when I needed some new ideas, and then again at about 78%. It’s been a big focus, a labor of love but also frustration. xD I’m sure I’ll change a few things here and there as I go too.
