The Lair of Shadows is the personal Kaas City residence of Tasaad Istari, Dark Lord of the Sith. It is here that the Dark Councillor retreats after attending to matters of state, and it is also here that he delves into his more esoteric pursuits.

Guests first enter the lair through an opulent vestibule, complete with various personal cargo accesses and a fully operational Galactic Trade Network terminal. An equally decadent hallway connects this room to several others, including a medical and Sith alchemical research facility, a throne room for the Lord of the estate, as well as twin staircases that lead to the upper levels. The hall ends in door that leads to the Chamber of Artifacts and Secrets, where dark rites are performed under the supervision of ancient Rakata priests.

Upstairs can be found a balcony whose ramparts are fortified with cannon emplacements. A towering homage to the Sith Emperor occupies what was once a landing pad. Starfighters belonging to the owner also are parked here.

The upstairs living quarters included a room dedicated to plant and animal life collected from all corners of the galaxy. This leads to a palatial sitting room, from whence three more spaces branch: an archive chamber, boudoir, and a mausoleum from which the Lord of the house can draw infinitely upon the power of the dark side of the Force.
