I do. I didn’t really like the last chapter about her though. I really wanted to believe she was a revolutionary anarchist leader, but instead the writer went with the cliche anarchist stereotype and downgraded an armed resistance movement to privileged elites who have nothing better to do. I would of kept all of the same elements but wrote it differently. I would of made a villain to be a privileged elitist, while Kaliyo is trying to lead a legitimate movement with the exiled citizens escaping to the swamps. Broke my heart a bit.
Oh not me. After dragging Kaliyo on about a million Imperial Intelligence jobs which probably bored her to tears, I found some random destruction completely refreshing. Her taking me to school on how to strike at the enemy and get some payback (me, being the vindictive sort) was like going back to school. We never got to do stuff on that scale of destruction as an agent, and here she is a one woman show, with only bored teenagers to work with. I don’t really think she’s leadership material, what with how her mood can change so violently in a heartbeat (ie. Watcher X), but she can def bring the pain. For me, Chapter 10 showed me what I’d been missing, being a tool of the Empire even though they completely screw us over. Can’t see anarchy or any kind of revolutionary movement taking hold in Zakuul what with how slavish the people are toward their masters. “We’re getting our scars removed. It’s not fun anymore.” Ain’t gonna be no Ghost Cell on this planet.
There is class disparity and poverty in Zakuul with refugees living in swamps. Its not a planet of privileged elites. Its a planet with class strata.
I see where you said she might have been “bored to tears”. And this is where the writing should of taken advantage. Character growth, was a failed opportunity here. It would of been nice to see Kaliyo go from apathetic to determined. We didn’t really see that. She wasn’t the leader type, but I would have loved to see her become one, like General Solo.
Not alone. Hands down my favourite companion and some of the best writing for a female in the game. By the end my dude took her everywhere because she’s got an amazing head for business and can spot BS that’ll get us used and killed a mile away. Also really liked the growth over time where trust for either of them was gained through trial and error. Spoke with a few friends who said “She’s a liar though.” My response is “Yeah and what exactly does the agent do for a living? Oh yeah. Lie to everyone! At least they can be honest and open about who they are. I thought that was rather fantastic.”
That’s dope. Love it! All anarchists should have one of these, like BOOOM!
My god. You mean there’s actually somebody besides me who appreciates Kaliyo? Seems all I see is complaining about her.
